5 Reasons Why Clean Homes Still Get Pest Infestations

The most significant element of pest avoidance is to keep your home clean. It seems obvious to do this. The likelihood of experiencing pest control problems is much greater in a cluttered house, where dirty dishes are in the sink and crumbs litter the floor.

This problem is however not necessarily related to your cleaning abilities, so don’t get discouraged if you find yourself in this frustrating situation.

Bugs enjoy a nice house just as much as you do. There are three things they need: shelter, food, and water. When they find these in your house, they’ll move in. Household pests such as ants, cockroaches, flies, and rodents are commonly seen in homes.

Is it possible for pest problems to exist in clean, neat homes as well?

Pests are experts at breaking into houses, and you might be making it easier than you think for them. An average rat can fit through any opening as large as your thumb. The area needed by ants and cockroaches is much less than that.

Even if you maintain your home neatly and orderly, pests can still find their way in.

  1. They can hitchhike in your groceries.
  2. Get into storage containers if they are not sealed correctly.
  3. Be attracted by pet food if left open.
  4. If there’s a gap under your exterior doors.
  5. If there are rodent-sized entry points all around your home.

It is important to seal off any entry points and limit the access of pests to your home.

Unfortunately, pests will always be around, but SMARTSENZ IPM are always ready to assist  in the safest and most eco conscious way!
