Managing pests in springtime

Who doesn’t love springtime?

The days are becoming longer, the mornings warmer and our gardens are coming back to life!

In the warmer months, all those little critters emerge from hiding and become more active. While some little critters -like bees and bats- are beneficial to the environment, others have not been missed at all, such as mosquitoes, flies, and ants.

It is most likely that while we kept our homes warm in winter, we have unknowingly been playing host to pests and keeping them sheltered and warm as well! Pests usually find places in our homes to hide and nest for the winter. The smallest crack in the wall can become a haven for ants, cockroaches, and bedbugs.

In addition to clearing your home of unnecessary clutter, spring cleaning can also remove pest hiding spots that are unnoticed. The chances of uncovering any sort of infestation are more while organizing and sorting your home, allowing you to eliminate a pest problem before it gets any worse.

It’s also a good idea to get a few preventative pest treatments done to prevent any pesky critters from making your home their summer retreat!

Pests that will start becoming more active this time of year:

–        Ants

–        Bedbugs

–        Flies

–        Mosquitoes

–        Silverfish

–        Termites

–        Fleas

One important thing to remember is that pesticides are harmful to the environment. The best way to control pests is to use them only in specific areas and to target specific pests. If you need pest control treatment, it is highly recommended that you work with a legitimate, professional company.

It may cost a little more to manage your pests now, but it will definitely be more cost-effective in the long run.
